Man with Knife Shot to Death

"The officer, finding that peculiar, got out of his vehicle, made contact with this person," department spokeswoman Renee Witt said. "The male stood up and made advances toward the officer. The officer yelled very loud commands for the gentleman to stop and to drop the knife, at which point he did not."
Investigators did not say how many shots were fired, but the man died at the scene. His identity has not been released, pending an autopsy and family notification.
