In the first three years I lived in Seattle, law enforcement in the area shot numerous people with little backlash from the community. There were also countless cases of officers and deputies using excessive force, often on "suspects" not involved in any crime. I wondered: "Why don't the citizens of King and Snohomish County care? Is the media sweeping it under the rug? There should be riots in the street! Or at least a few words of protest." It's only gotten a little better.
The Washington State Patrol says it is conducting a criminal investigation into an officer kicking a 17-year-old boy during an arrest in October. The incident was caught on a convenience store surveillance camera.Read complete article and see video
